Most birth parents who placed a child for adoption say it was the most difficult decision they have ever made. There are many reasons for making an adoption plan for your child. Some of you felt that this was the right decision for your child. Others of you may have felt pressured or even coerced. Whatever the circumstances, losing a child can leave you feeling alone, confused and grieving. You may feel unable to talk about your loss or have kept it secret for many years. You may be a birth sibling, or grandparent or some other relative who may may wish to talk to someone about your sense of grief and loss in relation to your adopted birth relative. I have provided counselling services to birth parents and relatives since 1998 supporting them as they work through their grief and loss and the possibility of reuniting with their child.
